Caring Ministries of New Haven UMC
Congregational Care Ministries at New Haven UMC grows out of the first part of our Mission Statement that "New Haven United Methodist Church is a Christ-centered fellowship called to serve." Just as the Christians of the early church cared for one another through meals, fellowship and prayers (Acts 2:42-47), so we are called.
The Congregational Care Ministries of our church, which occur through support and recovery groups, are designed to provide peer encouragement and opportunity for spiritual growth. This is accomplished through the use of knowledgeable volunteers and is not intended to be a replacement for medical care by a physician, health care provider or professional counselor.
For additional information on any of the ministries listed, contact the Church Office (749-9565).
Alcoholics Anonymous:
Meets every Monday at 7:00 p.m. Contact the
Church Office for additional information.
Audio and Video DVD Ministry:
For those in our congregation who are unable to attend
Worship Services on Sunday, Worship DVD's are delivered to their place of residence.
Divorce Care:
This is an ongoing support/recovery group for those experiencing divorce. Each session involves the viewing of a video which relates to an aspect of divorce, followed by discussion.
Friends Who Care:
A ministry of encouragement to those who are hospitalized, in a nursing home or homebound.
|
Hospital Visitation Team:
Lay people of the church are important links with other members when illness takes our people to the hospital. Persons on the Hospital Visitation Team are scheduled to make calls on our members when in the hospital. This important ministry reminds all that the entire congregation is in ministry, not just the pastors.
In Home Visitation:
Lay people of our church visit members who are in nursing homes or are homebound and no longer able to attend church, providing a vital link for them with the congregation.

Grief Support:
Grief support is offered to those who are sorrowing or grieving a death and want to receive support and help in learning about the process of grief and healing.
GriefShare, a non-denominational series designed to help people adjust and recover from the deep hurt that comes with the passing of someone close to them, is held throughout the year and is open to all individuals in the community.
