Monthly Mission Project
New Haven Area
Food Bank
&
St. James Lutheran Food Bank
The New Haven Food Bank began in July 1983 to help the people who had lost their jobs at International Harvester. It is located in a mobile trailer sponsored by the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven United Methodist Church and other local churches. It is parked in the parking lot of Emmanuel Lutheran Church every Tuesday. People come to the food bank by township trustee referral, church referral or simply walk in and request assistance. We are also supporting the food pantry located at St. James Lutheran Church. People were directed to St. James when East Allen Family Resource Center closed. The food banks are always in need of cereal, peanut butter, tuna fish, canned meat, and personal care products. During 2011, our congregation donated approximately $2000 and 4700 pounds of food to the two local food banks. You may give a financial gift by placing it in your Sunday school offering during the month of February by placing your gift in your regular offering envelope or in an envelope found in the holder on the back of each pew and marking it “missions” or “food bank." You may also give towards these projects online!
